COVID Donation: Gift Cards at Lakemba 12 Sep 2021
We are very happy to handover most of the fifty ‘$100 Gift cards’ to the local disadvantaged Bangladeshi people mostly students at Lakemba, Sydney in a sunny day today (12 Sep 2021) on behalf of BMS-NSW.
Thanks to our 3 members who were physically present in today’s program from 2PM to 3:30 PM at Lakemba- Dr Iqbal Hossain (Joint Secretary), Dr Akhtar Hossain (BMS member) and myself. All of us live in 5 Km radius of Lakemba.

On behalf of BMS, NSW, Rashid Bhai, Mamun Bhai, Iqbal Bhai, Topu & Emon were present to hand over the purchased gifts to the “Lighthouse Community Support” in the presence of local community leaders. Mr Jihad Dib, local MP, Mr Khal Asfour, Mayor of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown, Mr Bilal El-Hayek, Councillor, Mr Gandy Sindyan, Campsie Area Police Command Officer, and a few more.

We responded to Australian Government’s Farmers draught appeal. We donated $3,500 /= directly to the account.
Donation to NSW Rural Fire Services: 2019-2020
We donated $12,000 to NSW Rural Fire Services Volunteers and their families affected by Bushfire
Donation to the family of a Bangladeshi Doctor: 2015
We donated $18,000 to the family of a Bangladeshi doctor who was working in Australia and died of a traffic accident. The money raised was partially used to transfer of body to Bangladesh.

This program was organized by Dr Mamun Chowdhury, one of our Advisory council and Benevolent fund committee member.

Bangladesh Medical Society of NSW, Australia organized a charity work in Thakurgaon.
A volunteer organization named : Shohay was in overall management.
Food distributed in 100 families.
COVID Donation: 2019-2020
We donated to Bangladesh Lung Foundation, Ibrahim Memorial Hospital in Dhaka, Doctor’s voluntary organisation Bangladesh for rural doctors, Bangladesh Cancer Foundation, total of $30,000. The items bought were for treatment of COVID 19 patients in Bangladesh.
Flood Donation: 2017
We donated $3,500/= to Government of Bangladesh and also poor families affected by monsoon flood (Sept 2017) that submerged 30% land of the country affecting 8 million people directly who lost their home.
Donation ENT Cancel Hospital: 2016
We donated $12,000/= to ENT cancer hospital in Bangladesh. Part of the money raised was given to poor patients as direct donation.
Rana Plaza Donation: 2013
A Dhaka garment factory collapsed (Rana Plaza) due to a structural failure that occurred on 24 April 2013 in Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The search for the dead ended on 13 May 2013 with a death toll of 1,134. Approximately 2,500 injured people were rescued from the building alive. It is considered the deadliest garment-factory disaster in history. We donated to the centre for the rehabilitation of the paralysed $3000/= as direct donation.

Syria-Turkey Earthquake Donation
Overall we have donated $10,000/= to a Charity Organization called “Human Appeal” for Syria-Turkey Earthquake victims.
Nepal Earthquake Donation-2015
In April 2015 Nepal earthquake (also known as the Gorkha earthquake) killed nearly 9,000 people and injured nearly 22,000. We donated $1000 through UNICEF.
